52 Weeks of Gratitude: Week 14

Last summer I bought four small strawberry plants.
The birds probably ate more than we did last year…

But somehow these beauties survived our snowy winter.
And they’re blooming!
I bet we’ll be eating strawberries in May!
Hooray! 🙂

And on another note, I’m also thankful for this little guy.
Last fall my grandma gave me a rhubarb start.
My husband LOVES rhubarb deserts.
(I love the meringue topping.) 🙂

My grandma kept telling me how big and beautiful her plant was already,
so I thought surely this little guy didn’t survive the winter.
But he’s a fighter!

And now I have to let him gain his strength for the rest of this year
so I can harvest him next year as I learn to make
my grandma’s famous rhubarb dessert…
