I was thrilled when Emily asked me if I would be willing to come up and shoot a trash the dress session for her!
We were roomies in college, and I missed her wedding last year because I was in another wedding on the same day.
For another roommate. 🙂
This session comes a little over a year after their wedding.
And Emily fit into her dress perfectly.
Way to go, Em! (I know I wouldn’t have!!)
You might be wondering what a trash the dress session is all about…
Well, some time after the wedding is over,
the bride gets to don her beautiful gown again
and take it to places that it wouldn’t have gotten to go on her wedding day.
Maybe there wasn’t enough time for pictures.
Maybe the places weren’t able to be used the day of the wedding because the dress needed to be in tact.
Some sessions can be a little more extreme than others,
causing permanent damage to the dress.
Emily and Phill’s session included field shots, pictures with Emily’s motorcycle,
hiking out to some bluffs that overlook LaCrosse, and ending at a park near the river
where they could jump in a {freezing cold!} fountain.
So Emily’s dress will be able to be washed right up and looking as beautiful as ever.
But the best part is that the session will provide some beautiful art for albums, wall decoration, gift prints,
and most of all some amazing memories.
It was fun to see Emily again and get to meet her hubby Phill and her kitty Shadow.
I took the 10 hour drive
(ok, my husband did all the driving…)
on my 30th birthday.
And you know what?
Emily was so sweet that there was a cake waiting for me at her house! 🙂
That made my day, Emily!!
My husband was a trooper toting me around all afternoon
and keeping an eye on the girls while I was shooting the session.
Thankfully the weather was cooperative
and so was Gracen…mostly… 🙂
It was so hard to leave these pictures alone for more than a week
while we took a vacation to Door County with my husband’s family!
I think you’ll see why in a little bit…
Emily and Phill, thanks for being great models,
for inviting us up to your house,
and for trusting me with your memories.
Enjoy your pictures!
