LMTPhotography bio picture
  • Welcome!

I fell in love with photography when I was teaching in China. My eyes were opened to a world of beautiful faces and incredible art as I roamed the streets and markets of Shanghai. I took pictures of every new and exciting detail and scene to help me remember my time there when I returned home.

Because photography is the memory of our lives. Photographs never change, even when the people in them do. My family lost my brother-in-law at a young age shortly after I returned from China. All we have left of him are the memories through our pictures. I wish we had more pictures of all of us together to show my kids the love and laughs we shared. Losing him motivated me to be a better memory creator for my family, and it fuels my passion for creating beautiful, timeless images that capture smiles and spirit.

My goal as a photographer is to make this easy for you. I'm a mom of 5. I get that things need to be simplified in life. Let me give you pictures you'll love and an experience you'll enjoy. Now is the right time to schedule your session! Contact me--let's do this for you!

Kyle’s Senior Session {Saint Louis, Red Bud Senior Photographer}

I first met Kyle’s family while capturing his sister’s senior pictures.
(You can check them out here…)
Have I mentioned how much of an honor it is to be invited back by past clients?! šŸ™‚

Kyle has some awesome loves that he wanted to get in his pictures,
which made the session lots of fun!
He loves riding his dirt bike, he loves cars,
and most of all, he loves hanging out at his grandparent’s farm.

Kyle, I had a great time planning your session with you and
taking your senior pictures!
Special thanks to you and your dad for helping carry my equipment around the farm.
You are both gentlemen! šŸ™‚
Enjoy showing off your pictures!

Gabe’s Senior Session {Saint Louis, Waterloo Senior Photographer}

Gabe and his family hold a pretty special place in my heart.
It’s not often that I can say I’ve known the seniors I’ve photographed since they were born,
but I can say that about Gabe.
His dad was my high school Chemistry and Physics teacher,
and I was taking his class when Gabe was born.
(Ok, stop doing the mental math! It was a long time ago! :))

When Gabe was born, he suffered a hemorrhage in the space between his scalp and skull.
At just five weeks old, he suffered a major brain bleed (hemorrhagic stroke).
The eventĀ that was supposed to be filled with pure joy as this beautiful family welcomed their firstborn
brought so much sadness and fear as they learned that little Gabe had a severe factor X deficiency in his blood,
which is a form of hemophilia. (You can learn more about it at www.factorXinfo.com)
I remember the pain in his dad’s eyes as he told us the story of Gabe’s first few months,
but I also remember his strong faith that rooted his family and gave them strength to keep going.

Gabe’s dad was a beloved teacher and mentor (ahem… because I was a geek in high school
and spent a lot of time with him outside of school with activities like the WYSE team and the Science Club)
and so I had the opportunityĀ to get to know his wife and little Gabe and later Gabe’s little sister, Ariel
(who also has the same Factor X Deficiency).
I was ableĀ to volunteerĀ for events for other families who had kids with blood disorders,
and even gotĀ to babysit Gabe and Ariel.
Since plasma is one of the treatments for Factor X Deficiency,
we regularly held blood drives in honor of Gabe and Ariel while I was in high school.
(and if you know me and how much I *love* needles,
you might just start to understand how much I care forĀ this family!)

As a result of the Factor X deficiency and the stroke,
Gabe has several physical and developmental challenges that impact his daily life.
He is an incredibly strong fighter, and with the help of his parents,
medical staff, therapists, and teachers, he is able to walk and communicate successfully with others.
Gabe loves to share the Gospel with people he meets,
and he’s active in Special Olympics competing in several sports.
His story is truly an inspiration to us all!

When my husband took a call to be a pastor in Saint Louis, you can imagine my surprise
to learn that Gabe’s family attended our new church!
Come visit and you just might get a card from Gabe! šŸ™‚
Sometimes it’s just plain crazy how God puts people back in your life.

So, you can just imagine how honored I was when Gabe’s parents asked me to take his senior pictures!
It was truly a pleasure and a joy to help plan a session to truly capture who Gabe is right now.
Gabe loves, loves, loves the Cardinals.
And because the special braces he has to wear on his feet are so tedious to put on,
he especially loves his Cardinal flip flops which he can wear all by himself
and enjoy a bit of freedom from the braces.
He loves competing in the Special Olympics,
andĀ he’s proudly showing off the medal he won!
Gabe’s favorite movie is the Polar Express. He could watch it all year long.
He even has his very own Christmas bell just like in the movie!
Gabe loves Burger King. You should have seen the GIANT smile come across his whole body
when we planned to take a few pictures in front of his favorite place.
(and we made it the last stop of the session so he could conveniently enjoy some BK afterwards!)

Gabe, I hope you enjoy your pictures and all the fun memories we had making them! šŸ™‚

Ariel’s Senior Session {Saint Louis and Waterloo Senior and Family Photographer} » LMTPhotography - […] Ariel’s family has such a special place in my heart. Last year I took her brother Gabe’s senior pictures. You can read his story here. […]

Tess’s Senior Session {Saint Louis, Waterloo Senior Photographer}

It was just last year when Tess’ family first came to see me for her sister’s senior pictures.
(You can check those out here.)
I am so honored when clients come back!
Tess wanted pictures at the same place her sister had them taken,
except with different backgrounds.

We were blessed with the perfect opportunity to take Tess’s pictures.
It was a windy day and rain was looming in the forecast,
but thankfully we were able to move up her session by a few hours,
which allowed us to squeeze the session in just the nick of time!
As we ended, the winds picked up and just a few minutes later it started raining.
Whew! šŸ™‚ Normally rescheduling wouldn’t be an issue,
but with baby #5 due soon, it was important for us to get this in!

Thank you, Tess, for being flexible to make the session work
and for trusting me with the memories of your senior pictures.
And thanks to both your mom and dad who graciously helped me
carry my equipment, which I greatly appreciated in my 8th month of this pregnancy! šŸ˜‰

Enjoy showing off your beautiful self to all your family and friends!

Rachel’s Senior Session {Saint Louis Senior Photographer}

I first got to meet Miss Rachel at her sister’s senior session three years ago.
(Go check out that session by clicking here.)
It’s always an honor to be chosen again to take pictures for past clients,
so I was thrilled to capture Rachel’s senior pictures!

We had a gorgeous fall day for Rachel’s pictures in Forest Park!
(Even though I had to forgive the park people for cutting down my favorite grassĀ field…)

Rachel, I hope you enjoy showing off your senior pictures!

Kelli McCann Nifong - I’m Rachel’s momma, and I must say, Lani outdid herself once again! We had the hardest time trying to choose from so many beautiful shots. I seem to recall us having the same (great) problem last time, with Shelby’s pictures. Thank you Lani for capturing such wonderful memories of the girls’ senior years!

Poole Family {Saint Louis Family Photographer}

It is the best compliment to a photographer when clients come back,
and Amy and her family have come back FIVE times for family and senior pictures
since I started my business almost seven years ago.
Needless to say, I am completely honored by their loyalty!!

We had the perfect day for a family session in Forest Park.
The weather was beautiful, and we had all the great picture spots to ourselves
(except the area in front of the Grand Basin which was being occupied by a yoga class).
Miss Taylor, thank you for keeping things light.
Your infectious smile and laughter helped capture some really great memories for your family!
Amy, thank you for your loyalty and your patience as we had to reschedule
your viewing session when my baby wasn’t feeling well.

Poole family, enjoy showing off your beautiful pictures!
